ISE (Integrated Skills in English)
It is offered by Trinity College London.
The ISE exam has 4 different levels:
ISE Foundation
ISE I
ISE II
ISE III
The ISE exam is divided into 2 main parts:
Part 1: Reading and Writing (50%)
Part 2: Speaking and Listening (50%)
ISE Foundation
Part 1: Reading and Writing
Reading
Task 1: Reading comprehension. Answer multiple-choice or matching questions.
Task 2: Reading comprehension. Answer open-ended questions.
Task 3: Read several texts, then do a writing task.
Writing
Task 1: Write an essay or article.
Task 2: Write a letter, a report, a review or an article.
The Reading and Writing part of the ISE Foundation exam is 120 minutes.
Part 2: Speaking and Listening
Speaking
Task 1: Present a topic. You must prepare this before the exam.
Task 2: Topic discussion. Discuss your presentation.
Task 3: Interactive task. Respond to prompts or questions.
Task 4: Conversation task. Speak on a given topic.
Listening
Task 1: Listen for specific information.
Task 2: Listen for general meaning.
Task 3: Listen and make notes.
The Speaking and Listening part of the ISE Foundation exam is 13 minutes.
The total exam time (for Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) for ISE Foundation is 133 minutes.
